  1. Is this contest open internationally?

I LOVE these items. They are so cute! I live in Utah, so Meg would see quite a bit of the mountains. I'll take a picture for you =). And if I won the plate, I'd have to think of some cute & fancy dessert to eat on it. Or I might just have to hang it on the wall in my kitchen so that I can admire it every day.

  5. 1) I will bake scones and dip them as much as I can in creme and homemade jam, fresh orange juice on the side, a nice online magazine to read and birds tweeting my ears of (I sit in the garden at about 05.30 so the kids and hubby are still a sleep, me time! )
    2) I will show Meg my garden and she can play with my two little girls as we have a staycation this year and of course she can join us to our vegetable garden and look at the veggies to grow. We will give her a little hat and matching sunglasses ....

Already looking forward to the new collection! Have a great summer.

  8. On the Birds Nest Plate, a pile of buttered toast soldiers, a smidgen of marmite.

And as for Meg, the forest of Fontainebleau, an hour outside of Paris, where we would scurry together like June Bugs through the woods. And when our little legs got tired, we would jump on the train to Paris for a chocolate patisserie!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I would bake homemade scones and serve them up on my plate with yummy homemade raspberry jam and clotted cream, delish!

Meg would come to Ireland with me when I go home to visit my family, I'm sure they'd love her.

And for Meg, she would accompany us to Chincoteague Island to visit the wild ponies and collect sea shells.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I would eat homemade chocolate chip cookies on this plate along with a glass of milk! And I would take Meg along with us to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina! I think she would enjoy seeing the ocean :)

  14. Mmm, with the soft-boiled egg I would like to share with my son a slice of pizza made by my husband, with parmesan cheese, tomato, rucola and ricotta! Mmm Yammiii

About Meg, we will love to welcome her to Buenos Aires and take her with us to our next destination. Where??? Mmm, for now it is a secret!!

  15. I think I would make some minty green & blue macaroons to eat off the plate. Cos, it's all about colour co-ordination!

& Meg could just hang out & follow me. I work on my own so it would be nice for the company. I might not go far but she'd get to visit a lot of old junk shops & get some Devon air.

  16. I did dip my toast into an boiled egg and still do so. Nobody else does it and just finds my way very strange! Great to hear there are more people like me. :-)

I would eat tagliatelle on this plate - gives a cosy nest to this beautiful bird.

Meg? I would take her to the seaside in the Netherlands. A very stormy sea is the most beautiful miracle in the world. She's got boots and gloves so she's prepared for the spoondrift and the heavy wind and we can have a lovely day at the beach.

    ReplyDelete
  17. In weekends we love to have an extensive breakfast. So I would have all kinds of food on this plate: bread of course, freshly made by our turkish neighbours, pancakes, fruits and home made pastry!
If this give away would have been in May, Meg would have travelled to Peru and Bolivia with me, now she can come and live in Antwerp - better known as THE city or THE metropolis :-) (Antwerp locals are just a little megalomaniac)

  18. Dear Donna Wilson.

May I introduce myself? I am the travel guide of the cutest girl on earth, called Meg. I will introduce her to my parents, which live far, far away high in the mountains of Switzerland. The grass there is as green as her dress and I am sure that she will like the clean air. It will make her cheeks even more rosy. Of course we will take a nice picture from our trip with the biggest mountains in the background. Meg and me will send it to our lovely friend Donna.

Meg is already perfectly dressed for this place, cause It's often very cold there and she will need her beautiful woolen gloves and her warm jumper. If she will be hungry, I'll introduce her to Swiss specialities, like the famous chocolate and cheese.

If I had a Bird's Nest Plate, I would serve Meg fondue on it. She would get the biggest pieces of bread and the biggest cucumber to go with it, for sure. After this nice journey to the countryside, Meg and me would return to my place in the city, where she could rest on my sofa and fall in love with my bird cushion there. I would be so absolutely delighted because my birdie is very lonely at the moment! If anything I just wrote will come true this story will end with "and they lived happily ever after".

    Sending you much love,
    Sara

I'm sure my daughter would love to take Meg on vacation. We're going to a sweet little house in the woods, close to the beach, so lot's of swimming and building sandcastles.
If I could take Meg somewhere, it would be NYC, I'm a bit homesick and really need to get me some NYC soon.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Only Battenberg - the best cake in the world - is a cake worthy of resting on such a beautiful plate and I'm sure I would be fighting the bird over the marzipan!

  23. Oooh, right, so firstly i think i would have to have toasted Warburton's (because, let's face it - It really has to be) crumpets, with just a little bit too much butter on and a delicate scraping of Marmite...

I think that Meg would rather enjoy a summer of camping with us. Deepest darkest Dorset (and North Devon too if we're feeling really exotic) Ice creams for lunch, haloumi cooked to perfection on the campfire and a spot of knitting of an evening. Heavenly.

  24. I'll take meg to Africa and visit my fav island "tarkwa bay" Lagos and catch some rays (meg needs some colour on her cheeks). 30. ooo look at the owl beaker! It would be the perfect partner to my wolfie woo geddit?! :) Wolfie looks a little sad in my kitchen on his own.

If I had a beautiful plate like that i'd want to see the design mirage through my dinner (!) so it would have to be baked camembert with too much garlic which I could munch my way through with homemade crusty bread to fight over.

Meg could come on my worldwide adventure i'm planning next at the beginning of next year - NZ, Japan, Alaska, Norway - she might even send a few postcards home to her lovely DW friends to enjoy

Does she like traditional country dress??

    :)

  32. as its a bird nest then eggs are surely the most appropriate of foods n'est pas?
however, given that you've nabbed that one (!) then lets look at the magpie and their love of shiny things. My shiny thing would have to be glossy fatty free-range cumberland sausages with some cheesy mash on the side. Meg could hang out with my niece and nephews and enter their magical daily world - surely there is no better place to be than a child's imagination?

    Jense

  34. I would take meg somewhere where her beautiful english cheeks could grow pinker
fresh air and high mountains afresh!
the little birdie would have my fridays fish and chips treat, doesn't sound glamorous but its my weekly treat and should be honoured with a special plate no?! I'd lovingly wash it afterwards, it wouldn't be a plaque but a part of my weekly life and as I age in life I realise we should treat everyday as unique and not hold on to this fictional ideal of perfection one day holding off from really living!
life is meant to be lived, heathily!
    peace and love,

I'd take Meg to every single greek island there is. To show her the true beauty of this country that is presented in the media as the black sheep of europe!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Together with my little girl Lily we would take Meg home to Ireland to visit family and friends. Then in morning after a party I would use the plate to have a lovely sausage roll with lots of red sauce... Might have that now :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I would eat a very rich dark brownie from the plate... And the doll should goe with my nieces to Mallorca. Not so exotic i know, but for my sister and her family that is their dream getaway -just to play around in the pool and eat something they have not made themself. I would love that the Meg doll could goe in their suitcase and tell me all about the trip when they return to Denmark again...

I would have to give meg to my daughter Suzie who goes on mini adventures everyday. 54. You know what? I didn't even know you had a monthly giveaway. I just love your blog. How fun that you do this. Okay, I'll give it a go. For the plate: I'd eat a nice little salad with arugula, tomatoes and some fresh cheese, as not to make the birdy feel bad about eating meat or eggs. For the meg doll: Well, I'd take her to the beach with me on my bike ride. She'd see all the surfers and joggers and the beautiful sand and sea. Very peaceful and serene!

    ReplyDelete
  55. My sister and I are smitten with both of these! I would eat homemade buttermilk biscuits made fantastically by our father with raspberry jam on the birdie plate. As for the adorable little lady, my sister would whisk her off on holiday to the rolling hills of Scotland. :)

  58. What a pretty plate... I'd eat Swedish Pancakes with Nutella (Pannkakor)off it. Mmm!

I'm going to take Meg on a holiday inside my room, will explore all the unchartered territories and I'll introduce Meg to all the fun things I keep and collect.... and I'll also take her to Hong Kong when I vacation there this year.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Well I have to admit that you have been such an inspiration to me and the plate is one of my favourites that I probably couldn't bring myself to use it. Therefore I would display it near my desk on the wall so if motivation or inspiration was running low all I'd have to do is look at it. And the egg cup could sit nicely on my desk and be used for something arty, holding my nibs maybe? (clean ones of course!)
And I'm sure Meg would love to join us on our holiday to Ingoldmells! We don't go anywhere exotic but a lovely family holiday near the sea is more important than far away locales. She'll have to be quick though as we go soon! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  60. i want to eat bougli boulga in this fantastic plate!! (imaginary food),like in the movie "hook".

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hi Donna, love your work and blog!
If I won the plate, I would use it to feed my son lots of nice new foods (he's currently being weaned). I would also use it to eat my husbands lovely german pancakes from with lots of strawberries, maple syrup and icing sugar on top.

    ReplyDelete
  66. How lovely! I would probably serve up a delicious mushroom and truffle (oil!) risotto as it's my favourite meal at the moment! And I would take Meg to the South of France to sit amongst the lavender bushes by the pool where I've been every summer since I was 10! :) xx

    ReplyDelete
  67. Wow, I love both items! The first question made me dream a little, since I've recently been diagnosed with pregnancy diabetes and I'm on a strict diet now, which means all I can think of is food. So hungry! So, when the baby is born, I would probably put a nice piece of cake on this plate, for example 'chocolate love pie' by Coffee Company, which we also had as a wedding cake. Yummie! Mel I would definitely give to my daughter once she is born. The colors are exactly what I have in mind for her nursery, yellow, green and a little pink. I'm not sure if she would travel far away places any time soon, her first holiday will probably be to our family summer home in Noordwijk at the sea, the Netherlands. Our first family trip with the for of us abroad will probably be to the italian country side, hope that suites her?

    Any

    ReplyDelete
  69. alas meg and mog is what comes to my brain when I think of a meg so I think I would have to find her a mog. This would no doubt involve some adventures far and wide (or at least around our sofa!). As for birdie, I think mini shredded wheat nests with mini eggs (which have a ridiculous calorie count I recently found out to my horror) have to be top choice - she'd feel right at home!

  76. Aah I love this beautiful plate! My family and friends always joke that I like to nest (arrange myself in a nest surrounded by all my comfort things!) so it would suit me down to the ground! I have actually recently moved into a new apartment and we have hardly any crockery so this plate would get all of my use :). I would use the set for marmite soldiers and boiled eggs for breakfast (a classic since my childhood!) and for lunch I would use it for Avocado and grilled cheese sandwiches! Alternatively, if I thought the plate needed a rest, I would put all my bits of jewelery on it on my dresser, or put my business cards and rubbers on it on my desk! There could be so many different uses for this beautiful set x

  91. So many fab ideas! I asked my some of my class of 8 year olds what they would eat off this plate: jaffa cakes, worms (when I asked whether they meant real worms, I was relieved to hear, no, jelly worms!), dalek cake (we made this so the children could write instructions), pottage (we are studying Tudors at the moment, I really felt I had taught something!) Lastly, a big pile of chocolate ice cream "and I would lick it to make sure the bird wasn't dirty". As for Meg, we are going to Sweden on our holidays and I think it would suit her as she looks Swedish so maybe she will meet friends when she is there. xx

  93. We would take Meg to Hawaii next month, and show her what it's like to travel in a plane for nine straight hours! I'm sure she'd be very helpful in entertaining our daughter. But in all seriousness, we would show her the mountains, the ocean, and hopefully a few whales.

I'm sure the egg cup would be used for eggs around here, as that seems to be all we eat! But also, syrup. Our daughter loves to dip her breakfast foods in syrup and we are constantly running out of tiny bowls. :)

  101. On that plate I would eat chopped up watermelon, pineapple and strawberries on a thin, warm crepe with a dollop of extra fat yogurt (what I am currently craving - it's 40 degrees C in Montreal right now!)

And to travel with Meg? Hmmm I just had a 3 week old baby so I'm happy right where I am -- I would be more than happy to take her to the park nearby for a picnic with my family though! And for an ice cream on the way back. Double strawberry cream.

Love these products Donna. Your work truly rocks.

  110. I would eat oodles and oodles of mashed potato! I love mashed potato soooo much :)
But on a random note: have you ever tried marmite soldiers dipped in a soft boiled egg? SO yummy! I was introduced to marmite soldiers in a lovely b&b in Brighton, which is where I would take beautiful little Meg. As lovely as all the places are in the world, I really think a trip to a breezy, pebbled beach with one of those giant, swirly lolly pops to munch on makes life just that little bit more perfect :) I would buy Meg her own little lolly pop too of course! :)
Love your work so much :)

  112. I would take Meg to the Edinburgh International Book Festival this summer...I've been waiting for the past 4 hours to try and get tickets! Nightmare! But we WILL get some...and they are for my daughters favourite author Lari Don, she writes about faeries, kelpies, mermaids and such the like. I'm sure Meg would love it!
To celebrate the momentous achievement of getting through to the Book Festival checkout and finally purchasing my tickets I would bake either my favourite Primrose Bakery chocolate cupcakes or a ginger and rhubarb cake...and i'd munch them off the birdie nest plate with great satisfaction :)
Wishing a lovely summer to everyone :)

Travel: Meg would stay in a red cottage by a lake, pick flowers, read books and go skinny dipping.
    Love summer! X
