What I love about october: The autumn colours, the cold bright days, chestnuts, rain and sunlight at the same time....Oh, and its my birthday in october. I love that as well. Is it childish to look forward to my birthday, when I'm turning 29?
ReplyDeleteI love the smell of people having their first fires whilst I'm pootling about in my car - the nights are drawing in and the smell of coal and wood fires from the chimneys in my area make me feel all cosy. I'd be even cosier with one of those scarves though! :)
ReplyDeleteI like having an excuse to put the fire on in the living room and being able to claim it's purely economical because it saves me from having to put the heating on yet. Really it's not about the money - I just love having the fire on. Our cats like that about October too.
ReplyDeleteNice scarf:) I like October because of the beautiful colors of the trees, and because the cold weather gives me an excuse to wear nice warm sweaters and knitted socks:)
ReplyDeleteOctober has so many delights and what i love and find very inspiring as a Printed Textile designer myself is, the whole drastic movement of the changes in colours of the sky in the mornings, and organics forms shedding their beautiful ever changing textures. I find october really does make you notice natures beauty around you especially living in such an urban city such as london it is often lost. But Octobers drastic change in weather highlights its beauty. My favourite bit has to be squirrel stalking! I love watching them race up and down the trees it brings all sorts of imaginative stories into my mind...
ReplyDeleteFrancesca Lahiri-Langley
I like to harvest squashes and pumpkins from my allotment and line them all up on shelves in my home. Then on the dark cold nights in winter I make warming rissottos or soups with my beloved squashes.... autumn roasted veg. YUM! x
ReplyDeletewhat i like about thís october are all the indian summer days we've had sofar :)
ReplyDeletewearing my sandra juto's wrist worms in the morning
i like special tea towels and use them as napkins
cheers, ingrid
I love wearing sweaters, scarves, and boots!
ReplyDeleteI like to have a cup of hot tea when it's cold and dark outside, I love roasted chestnuts, sound of wind outside, reading fairy-tales while covered with cozy and warm blanket, starting the scarf and hat season, hugging someone in a sweater, ... and I'm hoping to add "wearing Donna Wilson's rainy scarf" to my list :).
ReplyDeleteMy birthday!!!!1
ReplyDeleteI like October because I get to take out all of my warm clothes from the back of the closet. I love watching my dogs go crazy in all the leaves on the ground and I love to have an excuse to drink way too much hot chocolate.
ReplyDeleteThe sun sparkling through the leaves, thicker blankets on my bed, my cat laying very close to the heating with her eyes closed of joy....
ReplyDeleteThat is generous, giving away 10 lovely scarfs!
ReplyDeleteI love the fresh air of October, the colours in nature, the decay (we are probably fascinated by decay because it reminds us that our time here is short) the fact that I can wear scarfs again (some people wear it all year round, but that is much to warm for me) and it feels totaly right to curl up under a blanket and read a book. Of course October is different depending on where in the world you live, this is from my Swedish perspective :-)
I love the sunny autumn days, wearing warm cardigans and drinking coffee with friends inside while it's raining outside.

ReplyDeleteOctober marks the beginning of pumpkin pie season, which runs until my birthday in January.
ReplyDeletePumpkins and squash, crispy leaves and crunchy twigs, cold mornings and blue blue skies, dark evenings and cosy fires. And then, then, the clocks go back. Hooray for October!
ReplyDeletemy favorite thing about october is the chill we get here in california. i live just outside of san francisco, and we have already had a few rainy days..which are always my favorite times.
ReplyDeleteI love October for the different varieties of apples that it brings: pirouette, reinette, elstar, falstaff, pivona, canada grise, cox's orange, cloche...
ReplyDeleteMy birthday! Also the nights drawing in and a cosy house.
ReplyDeleteWhat I love about October: the blue skies against orange trees, the wind with a little bit of rain in it, the smell on the streets of stoves burning for the first time again and the sweet/sour taste of mandarins again!
ReplyDeleteI like october because of the 'candle-time' moments: sitting on the couch, tea, cookies and candles lit, while the rain and wind stay outside :)
ReplyDeleteI like October cosiness: wearing scarf and jumpers, drinking tea and hot chocolate, cooking hearty soups, curling up with a book, etc.
ReplyDeleteBut what I really love is a walk in the crisp morning air.
I love the crunching of leaves underneath my boots and the fresh, crisp mornings. The dark nights, hot chocolate, and dvds with the flatmates. I love the colour change in the leaves, chunky knit jumpers and the one night where everyone gets a little scared of ghouls and ghosts!
ReplyDeletekiki
October...
ReplyDeleteI like running in the rain, red cheeks, grey skies.
I like hot tea, candles in the window, falling leaves.
I like the smell of the soil, and to make a fire in the garden.
Nice October...
October for me means wrapping up in snuggly woollen jumpers and hand-knitted scarves, and roaming the countryside before it gets too wet and windy. Not to mention being able to indulge in a roast lunch (and crumble for dessert) without feeling too guilty of the consequences...thank goodness for that big woollen jumper, eh? ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the light of October. I love the colour of the woods. I love the smell in the air. I love the mood of my kids. I love my husbands childish laughs. I love October.
ReplyDelete- and I really love that scarf!
I like October because it means I can get all my knitwear out!
ReplyDeleteLesleyToast@googlemail.com
my favorite thing about october has to be the chilly nights when you get to pull out your old quilts and cuddle on the couch with a steaming mug of tea.
ReplyDeleteand spooky old movies, burning leaves, pumpkin bread, streets on fire with color!
love, love the scarves. fingers crossed tight.

October is birthday month = most of our friends & family have birthday in October. So basically, that means that October is cake month!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOctober is an excuse to sit inside with knitting & tea (and cake!), to silently be in a Christmas mood already, and to light candles in the evening. October is rock'n'roll housewifestyle :-) Mette
ReplyDeleteThere is so much to love about October! I like the foods that my boyfriend and I make in the fall the best and chai tea made from fresh spices (did you know in Russian chai means tea, so when you're saying chai tea it's like saying tea tea?). I like the correlation between certain music and previous falls, I can't listen to Beat Happening, Woods or Mount Eerie without feeling mooney for years past! I like to put on the Misfits and be nostalgic about being punks not parents. This is the first October that we will have Halloween with our son Presley- it will be far different from what we would be doing otherwise but so much more fulfilling!
ReplyDeleteA great fall song, for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGMd9zQt8TE
What I like october because of the 'candle-time moments': on the couch, cat on my lap, tea, cookies and candles lit, while the wind and the rain stay outside :)
ReplyDeleteOctober for me is about joyous sunshine, spring rain, the garden going gangbusters after said rain...and hayfever. Hi to you from Melbourne!
ReplyDeleteI love the colours of a sunny October day, the trees are almost sparkling with sunshine!
ReplyDeletemy birthday is in October!!!
ReplyDeleteand I like the chilly air, the fog and the feeling when you enter a cafe wich is warm when you come from the cold... I like to watch the birds andi like the cosy feeling that starts in October- becomes best around Christmas- and swims into spring in March!!!
In October I love to curl up on the couch with a blanket, lots of pillows and a cup of tea. I love the smell of fallen leaves when I go out for a walk and people in colorful woolen hats.
ReplyDeleteWhat I love about october: the 26th of october is my birthday so i can spend the whole month making party plans & inviting friends!
ReplyDeleteI love thos scarves!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a fall girl but I DO love to make things cozy inside and snuggle up with some good magazines and a cup of hot coco...
Bright, crisp and cold days, the search for my new winter coat and all of the Christmas goodies arriving in the shops.
ReplyDeletethe weather mostly. in scotland it's perfect: crisp and fresh. and something about the way toast smells in the morning in october is extra good.
ReplyDeleteI love all the fab colours. When the sun is shining and the leaves turn yellow, brown, red and orange, and I go for a walk in the woods listening to the sound my feet make when dragging them through the dry leaves on the ground.
ReplyDeleteoctober love: i can finally wear tights without getting too hot, scary movie marathons for the entire month, fog in the mornings, winter vegetables in the garden, and the start of bread-baking weather.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like about october is that I have an excuse to be indoors! Curl up in my sofa with my laptop reading beautiful blogs from all over the world
ReplyDeleteI love the crunch of leaves under foot, cozy sweaters & hearty dinners.
ReplyDeleteThe golden light that comes a bit earlier, hot chocolate, snuggling on the couch on cooler nights, brisk walks in the early morning. Oh and snuggly scarf giveaways. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI like walking my dog in the park early in the morning with slightly frosty grass and mist hovering above the lake like a beautiful photograph, it's magical.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course curling up with a cup of tea, cosy blanket and little snoring Westie :)
Stomping through the crunchy leaves on a crisp, sunny day ^_^ then home for cuddles, a film and coffee!

ReplyDeleteThe things I love about October: Long drives in the country to see the leaves changing colours, weather cold enough to wear jumpers but not so cold you're freezing, the smell of fallen leaves, pumpkin pie and pumpkin lattes, Hallowe'en.
I love all the great fall foods and eating carmel apples :)

October - the scent of autumn, the fall of the leaves in gorgeous toffee colours, the need to wrap warmly in scarves and gloves I'd made during summer, lighting the fire in the evenings and watching its flickering glow, seeing skeletal trees emerging from their autumnal coats to reach up and scratch the sky, the clear autumnal blue skies that seem to start in October, my man's birthday, half term with my boys, pumpkins - carving them and cooking them. When I started this, I did think I would find it difficult to list some good things but now find I can rattle of so so many!
ReplyDeleteThe golden sunlight giving everything long shadows and making everything just beautiful. It always feels as if the world turns into a theatre stage, so unreal this light feels.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like about October is that it's 100% autumn. I'm over my initial depression about the darkening evenings and sketchy September weather and can now get into the real thing - jumpers, piles of leaves, golden light and a whiff of Christmas about the place. It's the season of Lapsang Souchong - lovely after a long walk!
ReplyDeleteI love the october sundays, when i start my day eating breakfast (with my donna wilson cat egg cup of course) and then lay down on my sofa under my rainy day blanket ;) then in the afternoon i wear my right/wrong glove and go for a walk thinking i would be so happy with a rainy day scarf! hihi
ReplyDeletexxx yumicha xxx
Perfect for a gray winterday!!
ReplyDeleteI like October because it's Autumn and the trees are losing their leaves and therefore it's socially acceptable to start feeling Christmassy.. and of course Apple day on the 21st! who could forget that?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite things about october :
ReplyDeleteWhen you are out with friends and you all smell the scent of the air change - and it is that fall scent - that we all know and dearly wait for all year long. How cinnamon lingers in every retail store - and every food chain offers their take on pumpkin flavored items. Walking hand and hand with a lover through the park as the orange/yellow and red leaves lit by the sun change the hue of the surrounding areas. Wearing your warm socks for the first time as you sip a warm mug of tea while checking your emails in the early morning.
I could go on and on - but I will leave it at that. All of your products are so amazing!
I love cozy blankets, warm socks, making Halloween costumes and celebrating my birthday!
ReplyDeleteHalloween! So much fun :)
ReplyDeleteI like October because October is Squirrel Awareness Month.
ReplyDeleteI like October because most birds have left, but the sparrows love the weather.
I like October because it is the perfect time to view fall foliage and the changing colors of autumn leaves.
Going for a long walk together with my hubby with the last few rays of sun in your face, then coming home and making a steaming cup of hot cocoa (or hot cider for the hubby). Great time to take fantastic photos!
ReplyDeleteThe colours! Long walks under falling leaves :-)
ReplyDeleteI like the first fog in the morning, the first time I wear my winterclothes und carry the wood for the stove in the flat.

ReplyDeleteBLANKETS! It's finally autumn and I'm not the only one who feels cold anymore. I can put the heating on and wrap up to my heart's content.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I like most about October is that the leaves chance colour and are getting the most amazing yellows, reds and browns. An autumn walk in the October sunshine is one of my favourite pastimes of the year.
ReplyDeleteMaja x
Ah love these! I love everything about it, especially the park behind my house which is looking like a fairytale!
ReplyDeleteOctober used to mean huge cups of hot tea, warm feet in woolly socks, crisp air from a deep blue sky, but nowadays when I am living in Australia, October means I am loving the warming Spring sun, the colorful flowers that comes out after a long rainy winter, the warm sand on locked up winter feet! But I know autumn will be back and I would enjoy one of these scarfs by the time it is May again :)
