skyscraper scarf give away!

Monday 27 February 2012

It's about time we did another give away, I used to do them once a moth, what happened?!
it's still a little cold, cold enough to wear a nice scarf from time to time I think.
So to win your very own sky scraper can you write in a very short poem with the word 'skyscraper' in it.
(We make you work for your prize) can just be a couple of lines.
We'll give one of these lovely long lambswool scarves to two winners.
thank you!!

  1. There once was a tall skyscraper
which ended in a spindly taper
    when the wind blew
    it rustled and flew
because it was made of paper!

  2. I saw a message
from the person who got the last two arrows
    but there was another message
somebody else thought they had the last arrow
I would have loved an arrow
but that was before I saw
    Donna's 'skyscraper' and
    now I'm remembering New York
in 1969, and all the other times
until that last visit in '97

    above the concrete pillars,
i used to look up at skyscrapers and wonder how high i could climb,
Then I would feel exhausted just thinking about it and pour myself a Mojito with Lime.

Stood at the bottom, looking up, marvelling at how it tapers.
They look so high, touching the blue,
But try as I might, I couldnt see you.

    obsessed with skyscrapers, I've heard.
But as one who was quite
    afraid of the height,
one to wear round her neck is preferred.

I once had a bit of a caper
with a friend in a tall skyscraper,
and just for a laugh we knitted a scarf
the length of Kings Cross to Mayfair.
We scrolled it out of the top floor
knowing it would reach the bottom for sure,
admired by everyone who came to London
so now we've got to knit more!

  37. Skyscrapers so high in the sky
Kids run and shout through the halls.
Young love is etched on the stairs and walls.
Storeys of green windows stretch high.
Communities of young, old, loud and shy.
Rows of doors and hidden lives.
    Architectural dreams and strife.
Pinnacles for the rich rest on the cerise doors.
Elevators on the outside to view mother nature.
Residents for whom their skyscraper, is their castle.

    What fun! xx

  44. Hmm well I can't rhyme but a teacher once told me poems don't always need to, so here goes!

Did you ever see the man who spanned skyscrapers?
he made it all look possible
What is it about being UP high and looking down low as everything whizzes?
it gives you an electrofied, rejuvenated and heady cold mix
which is why when you climb climb climb up to the top
    just don't drop...
    your Scarf!

“If this one falls down, it’ll blend in with your town, and be a comfort for you too.”
Ten thousand quakes have kept me awake since the big one four seasons past
But I am a mouse, cuddling my soft house, determined that THIS one will last
We’re rebuilding now, slowly but surely, as the pacific begins to cool
But in this shaken up city, the only good skyscraper is one that’s made from ... wool!
